Restoring a Family Heirloom

Last month, art lover and owner of Brown Mountain Art Restoration Laura Pate, had the pleasure of completely restoring a piece of artwork that had been passed down from several generations and reviving it's aging, yellowing appearance from years of wear and damage from the elements. After lovingly and carefully cleaning the delicate artwork, Laura Pate was able to reveal to the paintings owner, Jane Parks Shaw, a vivid new rendering of  the masterpiece her dear great-grandmother had created years ago.

Here is Jane's testimony and story of the art work....

"My great-grandmother,
Fannie Taber Camp, was born in 1871 in Mississippi and came to Texas by wagon at the age of two after her father succumbed to wounds suffered in the Civil War. She was an accomplished artist who attended Coggin Academy, Lester Seminary, and Waco Female College. Fannie studied with Xavier Gonzalez, Will Henry Stevens, Harry Anthony De Young, and Andele Brunet. Fannie was known as the Dean of Brownwood Texas artists and was the first art instructor at Howard Payne College. She was also the mother of seven and inspired many artists including my mother, Carolyn Camp Parks. Fannie Taber Camp is listed in the "Dictionary of Texas Artists 1800-1945".After my mother's death, I acquired the painting and decided to try to have
it restored to its original beauty. Her descendants truly treasure her paintings. I appreciate the time and care spent on the restoration."
Sincerely,
Jane Parks Shaw
