Art: The Pleasing Visuals of Pastels on Paper
The innate beauty and wonder in nature and its ever-changing environment is a visually pleasing aesthetic often found in fine art. Her upcoming exhibition, Streaming, “the act of flowing, connecting, continuing,” is an invitation to savor life and dream of the future, to see and cherish nature’s jewels existing within our sight. Experiencing her work is an opportunity to take but a moment to refocus, to slow down and reflect upon the harmony and structure of nature’s design of form and function. This body of work is an accurate display of the harmony found in a garden, a metaphor for life and the balance required for verdant growth. It depicts the saturated colors and luminous iridescence existing within the textures of layered canopies. Refreshing blends of pastels and contrasting hues based on the juxtaposition of light and shadow are seamlessly blended together to encapsulate the foliage, water and pigmentation found in our environment.
Adams not only draws upon both traditional and contemporary techniques and mediums, but she also combines the two aesthetics. She employs only the highest grade of materials in papers, pastels and inks to ensure the work’s longevity and quality.
