Fall 2012 Makes Designers Mad for Plaid

Admit it. We are all itching for autumn and the holidays. Why? Because they're usually the perfect excuse for three things: creating/buying a new wardrobe, baking and eating all those holiday recipes you've been collecting on Pinterest, and decorating your home in celebration of the season. In Texas, it seems much harder to get into the "holiday spirit" with the warm weather, which lasts through November. But we promise you that getting your home in the holiday mood will put you in the mood as well.

One of the easiest ways to rearrange your home and prep it for the season is to switch out accessories.

“Goodbye to linen and seagrass. Hello to wool, cashmere and velvet,” says Denise McGaha of Denise McGaha Interiors. “I recommend changing your home accessories with the seasons just as you change your closet."

According to McGaha, plaid has been hidden in the shadows and unpopular for the past few seasons, and might just be making a huge comeback among both interior and fashion designers.

"Change your pillows, bedding, rugs and even slipcovers," she continues. "The refresh will feel amazing and give you the lift you need after a summer of sweltering temps.”
